Casa Ferrugem is located on top of a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the town of Garopaba, Southern Brazil. Using cross laminated timber, the house was designed for pre-fabrication and quick assembly on site, seeking minimal interference with the natural surrounding landscape. The house is partially suspended, cantilevering over the original terrain. Access is done from the back, where the house touches ground. There is one bedroom and one bathroom on each end of the house, while the common areas, such as living room and kitchen are located in the middle. A balcony connects all rooms and at the same time expands the house to the outdoors.
