3rd Place in National Design Competition
This project is our proposal for the architectural competition to design the Brazilian pavilion for Expo 2020 in Dubai. Addressing the very nature of temporary exhibitions, the proposal embraces fluidity and impermanence by naturally untying itself from the solid and perpetual. The columns support a wide spatial truss that spans over the space and provides shading to the space below. The pavilion has no walls and boundaries are blurred, transparent and permeable. Pathways are not predefined; they emerge as we walk around and as we move arriving to programmatic islands, the plastic tubes that compose the substructure move as well. It is in this moment that the pavilion becomes fluid. This liquid architecture reflects the event and its end, disappearing.
